Galkoff`s Kosher Butchers Shop

Galkoff`s Kosher Butchers shop situated at Pembroke Place, in Liverpool city centre and is the last surviving property that reflect the London Road area and Liverpool's historic Jewish and émigré links that have existed for nearly 300 years. The property has been under threat of demolition for more than a decade. There have been three previous attempts by local development agencies to compulsory purchase the property for demolition. Liverpool Vision the current development agency are currently (September 2006) attempting to encourage Liverpool city council to again compulsory purchase the building

John Stubbs & Sons Marble Company of Crown Street, Liverpool , supplied the three inch thick white carrera marble butchers and display slabs, the company also supplied the marble fitted in some of the great ships and transatlantic liners of the White Star Cunard Liners to name only a few. They also provided much of the finishing and monuments of the Mersey Road Tunnel, Queensway.
